GENERAL INFORMATION
- All articles must be accompanied by a word count.
- All articles must be
between 500 to 1000 words. Feature articles may be 2,000 words
(plus or minus 300 words)
WHEN COMPOSING AN ARTICLE:
- Refrain from using slang words, words not in the dictionary, “run-on & on” sentences
or complex sentences.

Refrain from abstract ideas or terms that confuse
the reader. Use abstract ideas and sentences only to give a clearer
definition to your sentence. Articulate your ideas.
THE BEGINNING
OF THE ARTICLE SHOULD INCLUDE:
- Always include a “by-line”.
(the author's name)
- Include “permission to use by” when
you are not the author or the article originates from an outside source.
- Pictures
should include the photographers name or “permission
to use by”.
- Use subject titles that draw the reader into the article.

The opening
sentence should draw the reader's interest into the rest of the article.
THE
BODY AND CONTEXT OF THE ARTICLE:
- The body of the article should be
systematic and lead the reader into a conclusion.
- Abbreviate the
Books of the Bible except in titles to 2-4 letters.
- When using scripture
text use quotation marks, italicize the verse, and give the version
reference. Example: “Don't fret or worry,
Instead of worrying pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries
into prayer, letting God know your concerns.” (Phil 4:6) MSG
- When identifying a scripture verse use parenthesis around the verses
address. (Jn. 3:16)
THE CONCLUSIONS:
- The conclusion should bring the reader to at least
one of the following
Ø To
take action,
Ø Make a decision,
Ø Make a commitment,
Ø To pray,
Ø To want to know more,
Ø Remember something important
